POSITION TITLE: Systems Developer
LOCATION: Vancouver or Toronto
DEPARTMENT: Development
REPORTS TO: Development Manager
Position Description:
The Systems Developer position will report to a Development Manager and will be responsible for application and
database development using the PROGRESS OpenEdge ABL RDBMS environment, as well as maintenance,
problem analysis, and possibly some customer interaction.
The successful candidate will have experience working with relational databases, a working knowledge of UNIX, a
solid understanding of Client/Server issues, and a related degree or diploma. The candidate will also have
experience with designing and building Windows-based and/or web-based applications. Experience in the
brokerage or financial industry is a definite asset. The candidate must be a self-motivated problem solver who can
work both independently and in a team setting, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
Development and testing of new products and system enhancements
Development and execution of ad-hoc custom reporting and/or system data adjustments
Release note documentation, outlining system enhancements and configuration considerations
Development time estimation
Investigation and resolution of critical system problems as required
Implementation and configuration support as required for BA/QA testing phases and/or following a
release
Desired Education or Background:
Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline
PROGRESS experience will be considered an asset
Brokerage or financial industry experience will be considered an asset
Familiarity with the Dataphile database and application will be considered an asset
Experience designing and building web-based applications
