Vaga: Manager, Business Solutions Services

The Manager, Business Solutions Services will manage the client relationship between the IT Cluster and a client area(s) . In addition, the Manager will plan, manage, direct and monitor the overall delivery of technology applications and services to support the strategic and operational goals

* Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge typically acquired through completion of post-secondary education in a technology related field with a minimum of 5 year’s experience in the delivery of IT/business system services in a large organization plus a minimum of 2 years supervisory/management experience.
Client relationship management skills with a solid knowledge of related best practices in order to understand clients and their needs, and to optimize client interactions
Leadership and management skills to coach and motivate staff, identify training and development needs and manage performance.
Project management skills with a solid understanding of project management methodologies in order to effectively manage/oversee, small, medium and large scale technology projects and to develop strategic long and short range plans and to initiate, lead and support various projects/programs
WSI Act and policies, Provincial Offences Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, Federal Privacy Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Income Tax Act,  programs and program performance and measures, and relevant changes in legislation in order to provide expert opinion and advice to management on future project work, analysis and program initiatives.
interactive skills to be a skilled networker, to present and explain new concepts and ideas, build strong linkages with team members using various vehicles of communication to share information, act as a mentor, facilitator and motivator; act as a liaison between multiple project teams and clients to communicate business changes

*Resource Responsibilities:
Manage the selection and/or development of applications, including the project management, analysis of business requirements, design work, code and product configuration changes, testing and deployment, releasing new functionality to business applications, and sustainment of work to maintain the functionality of the applications as designed.
Build and maintain strong relationships with client stakeholders to understand their business strategies and collaborate to align business processes with technology applications and services to help achieve those strategies and manage life cycle development for all enhancement requests to existing systems.
Partner with other IT areas to ensure end-to-end solutions and deliveries are efficient and effective.
Plan, manage and control the activities of the Business Solutions Services section which includes; annual planning of section projects and priorities, establishing operational policies and standards, problem solving and issues management for the section, ensuring section is adequately and competently staffed, identifying resource requirements, conducting the hiring process, allocating work, establishing and monitoring performance objectives, conducting performance reviews, and providing guidance and expertise to staff, and managing section employee relations matters.
Develop and administer section operating budget, authorize expenditures within approved budget and report on variances from approved plan as required. Recommend expenditures outside budget for approval.
Ensure risk management, quality management and continuous improvement systems are established to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness and cost benefit of services and programs.
Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
